I'm just sort of upset over the newly elected Republicans and the issue of concealed carry in Wisconsin. Walker said he would not veto the legislation if it came across his desk, but so far nobody is even doing anything to try to get that legislation TO his desk. I feel like I've just been told what I wanted to hear so they could get elected. One guy who I saw at the range who is a Wisconsin assesmblyman said the legislation hasn't even been brought up in assembly yet.

If you folks do get laws inacted that you want it is because the Politicians are just trying to get re-elected. They promised the nation that we would balance the budget, we saw how that went! I knew it wouldn't happen, but I thought that the newly elected representitives would have tried harder. They told us they would stand for us, once in office they sat on their butts! These aren't the guys I voted for, or are they?

The problem with term limits at the federal level is that the aides are unelected career staff, for the most part. They have to bring the new electees up to speed on all the ins and outs of Congressional procedure. It takes a couple of years to learn whats going on.They would wind up calling all the shots if we rotate congressmen to often. Hell, they pretty much do now, I'm afraid! And they aren't controlled by votes, just lobbyists(and their money). Either way ,we lose.

one term, 6 years. the 1st year you work with the outgoing dude; your vote, his advice. 4 years on your own and in the 6th year you bring the new man on board. no one gets a second term--especially during a time of war. one term and you can never run for any public office again. applies to all elected officials from mayor up. judges also.
and you can not spend more this year than you collected last year. and no agency, local, state or federal may borrow money.the principal on all outstanding loans must be paid down 3% per year till retired. every worker in America pays in to SS and may have a 401 or IRA but no pension besides SS. to retire double dippers, their pensions shall be taxed and reduced 10% per year till retired. no unfunded mandates and its time to say ' thats a nice idea but we can not afford it'. \rant off/

Apparently you've given this some thought. This makes entirely to much sense to ever stand a chance in hell of being implemented.

Guys, I understand how you might feel like you're being ignored but I can also understand why you might want to cut these guys a little slack for a short while. The Gov. is under big time attack from the unions and their thugs. I believe there is a recall effort underway and his poll ratings suck (for standing his ground I guess). There is also recalls underway for some of the conservative legislators. My guess is, at the moment, they are busier than a cat sh#@@&** razorblades.
I would wait untll the newly reelected conservative justice is safely enscounced in his seat and some of the Union backed Recalls are settled and then make your demands known. If you are supporting the Gov. and conservatives then let them know it is gun owners that have their backs.

I agree with just about all the other points, but this one. I don't think SS participation should be mandatory. Granted, if you don't put in, you don't get anything out. I'd be all for not participating, and keeping MY money and investing it as I see fit.

I agree Airdale. It really doesn't matter what kind of politics are at play here. The fact is that gun owners have only two choices and that is Repubs or Libertarians, at least if you look at the party platforms. A vote for any Democrat (almost) is a vote for gun control and a vote for a Libertarian (in most cases) is a half vote for a Democrat because the Libertarian can't win. So we are stuck with no backbone Republicans in many instances and we have to help them develop a backbone by harassing them to our point of view or out of office so we can elect one with a built in backbone. We have to be very careful in pushing a Repub out of office because it may open the door for a Dem to take the office. This is exactly what will happen in Wisconsin if the union thugs get their way and then you won't even be able to own a gun there much less carry one. The politicians aren't the problem anyway. The problem is the 50% or so of the American populace who think that this is a nanny state that will take care of them from cradle to grave. They are destroying America and either don't care or they don't have the brains to figure it out.

Graehaven I agree but look how GW was raked over the coals for suggesting that 2% be held out and applied to a persons individual account. Proves my point that these social programs administered by the government have become ingrained in the American culture. SS is a giant chain letter and someone is going to be left holding the last letter waiting for their check while the elite few exempt themselves from it.

SS, Medi whatever, etc., wouldn't be an issue if the government kept their hands off it.

You are correct! I am retired, I have a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Gov. plan, and I am on Medicare. Medicare is my primary Ins., and B/CBS is my secondary. I am still paying for Medicare, but I am paying bunches more for BC/BS. Now why is it this way? Wouldn't it make more sence to make BC/BS my primary, they pay up to 80% for unscheduled treatment after I pay a $250 co-pay for the year. On emergency, and scheduled treatment BC/BS pays 100%, minus the anual co-pay, and I pay $25 per visit. Instead the Government does it backwards. Medicare is the primary, paying 80%, no co-pay, no charge per visit, while BC/BS is paying 20%, and I don't pay anything, except mega bucks for an Insurance policy with a Co that the Government seems to be portecting! And they won't even consider turning things around. Now that's crazy!
