The Hornady conical is (at least it appears to be from looking at their website) a Minie. As such, it would not need a patch. A greased patch is to allow a slightly undersize ball to grip the rifling. A hollowbase bullet that expands to grip the rifling not only does not need a patch, but it seems like a patch would prevent it from working correctly.
