Default Need help with an M1 Garand.

I've been studying the Garand maual by6 Duff for a while now and I'm ready for my next one, but I'm not sure what to offer on this one. He has no asking price. (Family aquaintance) He'd like me to make an offer.
The receiver is a 1945.
Trigger Group: 6528890 HRA N
Bolt: 6528287 HRA
Barrel: SA 06535448 2 53 A185A
Hawkeye shows sharp lands/grooves with tool markings, so it hasn't beemn lapped.

Rebuild by a decent gunsmith.

I don't want to mess with him, I just want to offer a fair price. Can anyone help with this?

zfk55,
NO TEASING ALLOWED, dude.
Would you share the "answer" you received? Having been involved selling Garands at gun shows with a friend who is an FFL dealer, but having been away now for a year - I like to try to keep up with the market across the country - I'm pretty sure others would like to hear about your fine looking piece also.

I hate it when they disappear without any follow-up. That's just rude!

Well, that receiver and barrel were re-parked at some point; no 1945 vintage receiver looks like that. I think the wood has been refinished. The barrel is both a replacement and appears also to have been reparked as IIRC the 1953 barrels were darker.

So it is not a collectors item, just a shooting M1 rifle, $700-800 around here.
