I bought an Oly ar-15 last year and got a gem. It functions perfectly with every type of ammo I have used and I have had no problems. That said, I am wondering why I can't find the number on my lower listed in the Olympic arms ar-15 owners manual or anywhere else for that matter. The cal is multi 2006, the mod is mfr, and the number in question is TB 1157. The barrel is stamped 556 SS. Can anyone give me any info on this rifle?

Can you give a little more info? barrel length, heavy barrel, flat top picatinny rail, etc; MFR means Multi Function Rifle. SS under the cal. on barrel means 416 Stainless Steel, even if it's in the black. Multi means you can shoot 5.56 Nato and .223 Rem. in the rifle. 2006 was the year of manufacture.

welcome! belldennis permafrost is correct but the resson you can not find the # in refrence books is due to oly. not keeping up on them.(due to the extra papper work) The ss. barrel is one of the best made (due to the 416 steel).Remember even thow you can soot both .223 or .556 ammo it is recomended you soot only what your barrel is stamped(I know I just started a war on the use of .223 in .556 and the other way around)
If you contact oly. they are very good on giving info on thier guns(dates and any other questions)...........GOOFY![]() |

Thanks for the replies. I knew what the mfr and barrel markings meant but this is the first time I have heard that it is not recommended to shoot 223 in a 556. It is widespread knowledge not to shoot 556 in 223 due to the higher pressure loads and minor differences in cartridge configuration but why would you not shoot 223 in a 556?
