I don't know if they'll replace the Beretta any time soon. But more parts of the US military still use the 1911 than I previously thought.

The design of the 1911 was based upon the need for a pistol that would stop a Moro warrior. These Phillipine tribesmen would wrap leather around their limbs, get stoned, and enter an altered state of consciousness with a religious ritual.
Yeah, it should work for an Arab tribesman who wraps a diaper around their head, gets stoned, and enters an altered state of consciousness through a close encounter with a camel.
