Have an 1896 Smith and Wesson Target Model with letter from Roy Jinks. Does anyone know what it's worth? Mechanically sound finish poor.

I have seen two of those, one as a picture on a web site, one "for real" at the Baltimore show. Both were in rather poor condition, and appeared to be hard used. IIRC, the asking price at the show was $1000, but from what I saw there was not a lot of interest. I think it might have been worth double that if in near top condition, but that one wasn't. My WAG as to what yours might bring, would be $500, but I will not mind being corrected if anyone has a better figure.
The target models are scarce, and the Blue Book doesn't even mention them. The SCSW mentions them as being rare, but has no illustration. Jim Last edited by Jim K; 05-24-2011 at 07:09 PM.. |
