I have a Model 922 with a 6 inch, round barrel, blade front sight, frame notch rear sight with one piece plastic grips which are checkered and have the H&R logo molded/engraved in them. My father bought this firearm used from a friend sometime after he returned from WWII and I would like to know its manufacture year. It has a serial number with an alpha character and four digits. It starts as K29XX. Can anyone please advise. I believe it is late 40s or early 50s but really don't have a clue. Thanks.

Dennis,
Your 922 revolver was manufactured in 1950. It is a first model, seventh variation, and should have the "all-in-one" cartridge extraction system. You remove the cylinder and use the cylinder pin to push on the extractor, and all spent cartridges will eject at once. Old Gun Guy |

Dennis Y,
Welcome to the forum. Old Gun Guy provided the info - here's a pic that shows the "all in one" extractor/ejection "system", just for fun.

To the OLD GUN GUY and Jim Hauff, thank you both very much for your detailed and timely responses. Both the manufacture date and the other information which you have provided, and the photos too, are of great value to me as well as being very informative. Thanks again and I hope that you both, along with all whom you care for, have a safe and memorable Memorial Day. Blessings on those who have sacrificed for our rights and freedoms and curses to those who would destroy it all. Dennis
