Default Silver Winchester 1776-1976 model 94!!!

Boy do I have a problem. An old friend, age 92, who ran a gun shop for over 60 years brought me a Winchester Bicentennial model 94 which he said was a "John Wayne" 1776-1976 Bicentennial model 94. It's a silver finish with some filigree but the problem is some silver corrosion where the receiver meets the stock! Photos will follow when I feel better. I have a terrible cold that caused me a an ER visit this morning. Just wanted this posted so people could start thinking about how I could repair this beautiful rifle. Oh the rifle is in the original box with the Styrofoam packing insert!
Any idea what it's worth? he thought only about $1,100 but I thought with the box etc it should be worth more if in good condition.
