I decided a few weeks ago to go back to .45ACP with the Hogslayer. Which means I cant call it the hogslayer no more. I have an old colt mk 4 barrel in it right now just so i can shoot it. But I have a New wilson match barrel waiting to be fitted. So im trying to decide what bushing I want to use..
Im waiting on an order I put in for my FIL to come in. He has a new Taurus PT1911 in stainless. Taurus seems to think its ok to sell 1911s with a barrel that measures .577" OD at the muzzle mated with a bushing that measures .583" ID, so it has .006" of slop between the barrel and bushing and prolly another .006" or more between the slide and bushing, point is, it dont shoot that good.. He wanted to try one of the Briley spherical bushings on his taurus and I have never used one. So I ordered him one. I am going to fit a .578" bushing to his PT1911 and make sure it fits so tight in the slide he has to use a bushing wrench to take er down.. Anyhoo Im getting off topic.. IF the spherical bushing performs ill order one for mine.. The purpose of this thread is to see what yall think I should call the hogslayer now since it isnt a magnum class powerhouse anymore and I wont be hunting with it.. I personally like "The Green Machine".. Wesley, my youngest, has a name for all my guns that he likes. He calls this one "The Hulk Gun" he calls my Ruger SRH Alaskan "The Fatgun", My Mini14 "The Sheengun".. What yall think? Heres a pic of what it was with the Rowland kit (Hogslayer) and again with the .45ACP barrel..

Gees I liked that Hogslayer a bunch but I never had to put up with the recoil or the price of ammo. What the heck change is good just look what it did for the economy
![]() If you just have to change it I like the Green Machine. ![]()

Shrek! thats it! I love those movies..
![]() Todd, the .460s werent a problem. I handload them and they use .45ACP components with a slower powder. so they werent any more expensive to shoot than .45ACP. The reason i decided to switch back was because the comp made the muzzle freakin heavy and it didnt handle quite like a 1911 should. Plus I hate racking that 24# spring with the edges of the XS rear sight digging into my hand.. The .460 is cool and all, but it just shoots so much better with .45ACP.

Be-yooty of a gun JLA. I would offer up a name suggestion but there are plenty good ones here.
I am currently building a Caspian with a race ready rail receiver. It will look a lot like yours when done but I am adding scales here and there for traction. So it will be green with scales, big and bad...my chosen name for it is Godzilla. I will probably have it engraved on the slide before finish. I'm kinda fond of the big green lizard that stomps the hell of whatever irritates him, I also have a green, 1997 Chevy, one ton crew cab, long bed 4x4 that is aptly named Quadzilla. |
