Thanks HossFly for your reply. The standard GP-100 model 1715 3" ss in very nice used condition would bring about $ 450.00 I believe. This is totally a different model and is a rare GP to say the least. This 3" has an adjustable rear sight and a removable front sight. Not many people have ever seen this model. I just can't seem to get a handle on its value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yup. About $450-475 on the used market.
That's purty!

The 3" adjustable sight model is one that disappeared from the catalog a few years back. Back in the late-80s & early-90s, Ruger had so darned many variations on a lot of their models it was hard to keep track of em. They "thinned the herd" and stuck with the basic variants...sometimes now you will see some of the real unique feature-combos come up as a "distributor exclusive" model.
They still have a 3" fixed-sight model (KGPF-331). A friend just bought one brand-new for just under $600.
I'm (im)patiently waiting for my LGS to get a KGP-141,4" adjustable sights, in stock. Been on the hunt for one all summer.

Bindernut, it's good to know they still show up on the used market. In case I should miss it, i'd appreciate it if you guys would pm me and let me know when one's available. I would love to pick up a few more at the price of any standard used ss GP-100 model. Mine so far is the only one i've seen in the past 20 years or so. In fact i've never known of anyone that even knew they existed .

That's the going rate on any stainless GP regardless of barrel length or sight configuration.
Ruger didn't keep any production figures on the individual catalog numbers for each particular model of the regular catalog items.
So there is no way to know if it's a rare model...numberswise that is. Now I can count on three fingers the number of 3" adjustable GPs that I've ever seen...two stainless and one blued and two of em sold at the shop I worked at. So, yeah I do know it's not a common config for a GP.

Unless you specifically find a Ruger collector out there that is in search of that particular variation then it's just going to bring market value.
I collect Rugers...as shooting irons not as investments...so market value would be my offer too.

Bindernut, Thanks for your replies and information. You say they disappeared from the catalog a few years ago. Is there a source that you know of where I could obtain or look at a catalog that has this model GP in it? I've done a lot of research and can find very very little information on this revolver. I've contacted authors, distributors, the factory 3 times, experts and collectors but no one has any information at all. The Ruger factory will only give out the date it left the factory and that it was a special run. ???

Thanks, RME

I've got a stash of the Ruger print catalogs down at the farm. I'm not sure which pre-94 ones I've still got anymore though since that was the year I had my fire.
If I can find one with that particular sub-model listed I'll scan it and post it up in here.
