I own one and I like it. It's a good basic 1911 built to govt spec. It's not a match grade pistol by any means but it serves well the purpose for which it was intended. I did notice on mine that the slide loosened up after a few hundred rounds and will move from side to side maybe .010" on the frame but with no apparent loss in accuracy or functionality. I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing, but it is quite a difference from when it was new and tight as a drum. On mine the parkerizing isn't the greatest and there is some discoloring or variation in the finish around the serrated part of the slide.

Whaddya know. I A L M O S T bought me one of those at Academy yesterday. The wife had some shoe shoppin to do so i hit the gun desk and fondled a few handguns. Overall the fit and finish was good IMO. Didnt much care for the all black look but hey, its a shooter, not a looker..

How long til the range report??

JLA, do you have a Bo-Mar cut slide or is it Novak? And are target sights difficult to install?

It is a BM-1 rear sight cut. Mine are dual dovetail. And it took me 5 minutes to drift em in.. I recommend using a sight pusher, but a hammer and a nylon punch also work. you just gotta be careful..

hmm... idk i think my sights are off was just why i was wondering and i always wanted a target sight. i think i need to drift them over to the right a little because they're way to the left and my gun shoots to the left... might just have the local gunsmith look at it on monday.

You got the springer loaded dont you?? If the sights are Novaks, they should have a setscrew. My taurus has Heinie str8 8s with setscrews, and my FILs taurus has Novaks 3 dot sights with setscrews. I drifted his yesterday. got it shooting center at 25 yds. So centered in fact I was hitting the 250 yd dirt pile dead center by just doping the elevation. The .45ACP has about a 20 foot drop at 250 yds..

Thank you sir.. I built it last year, fit a .460 rowland conversion to it, lovingly dubbed it the 'Hogslayer'. Shot it off and on for a year, never really was fully satisfied with it.. Then a few weeks ago I was digging thru my parts boxes and found a brand new Wilson Match barrel I forgot I had. So I ordered a Briley spherical bushing and fit the barrel to the bushing, frame and slide. Now its lovingly known as the 'Green Machine' and Im 100% satisfied with it. Shoots one holers benched and handles like a .45 caliber cadillac..

I ordered the punisher grips from Duragrips.com, the guys name is Brian, and hes a real pleasure to do business with..

Here ya go. It's purpose is to achieve .44 Magnum power in a 1911.

Yessuh. The .460 rowland has the same relationship to the .45ACP as the 10mm auto has to the .40s&w. It is a powerhouse of a round.

And the 1911 .45ACP is quite capable of killing feral pigs.
