Myles, I gotta put this out there to ya.......
Ballistics on the .22mag make it quite fine for SD
but the loudness, especially in an enclosed area,
will deafen you to the point to make 'a second shot'
very possibly hesitant.
I have had a SS Single-six convertible Ruger since
they came out with 'em and after a few rounds I quit firing
the mags unless I had some ear protection, and that's
with a 6" bbl.
I really like everything about the .22mag in general.

I think a snub-revolver is an excellent SD-carry choice.
My suggestion is one in .327 Federal Magnum so that
you have the 'meat' if you want/need it.......and have
Laura shoot it with the .32 H&R Magnum ammo [or smaller].

Also, depending on how large of a pistol [in size/weight]
she wants, you can go up in size/weight to a Ruger GP100
and the design and weight alone dissipate almost all recoil
even when firing the full blown .327fedmag ammo.
Another option would be a snub like the Taurus Model 606
with a ported barrel, and shoot the .38spl low flash/low recoil
SD ammo. The porting really makes a difference in a 2" snub.

Otherwise........a .22lr snub and use the CCI segmented ammo.
How about a snub revolver in 9mm ????
[I think a .22mag and it's loudness is just asking for trouble
in the event when you would need it the most- in a short barrel]

There is virtually no recoil from the Sig Sauer P-238. I liked shooting it so much that I got one also for my conceal carry weapon.

It is .380 caliber; we load it with hollow points.

i would personally say find a kel-tec pmr-30. its pretty fairly small so it should conceal well. it is in a 22 mag like you want. its semi-auto so it will have less felt recoil and a revolver. it has a longer barrel than the revolver which means better accuracy and higher bullet velocity which in turn makes for more damage to the target. and if holds 30 freaking rounds. screw reloading a revolver 5 or 6 times to every one time you have to reload the kel-tec. im trying to track one down for myself right now just because its such a cool gun but everywhere i go is backordered.

Carver, If you will get the folding grip for the NAA mini-mag you will find it gives you a large enough grip to make that gun handle well.. I usually have one in my pocket all the time. I have large hands and the folding grip is fine. If you already have a mini-mag,try the grip before you sell the gun. NAA sells the grips separately.

OZO, she has the 101, an Off Duty, the LCP, and the NAA revolver in .22Mag. The only one she will carry is the NAA Mag. Don't get me wrong here, I like em all, and there is nothing wrong with the .327Mag or the .32Mag in my opinion. However, one of the reasons she gives for not likeing the 101 is that it is too heavy, and the .327 comes in at about the same weight as the 101. Thanks to your suggestion though, I have looked at the .32Mag in a snuby revolver, and it is much lighter, mainly due to the fact that it is a six shooter. This might be the way I go, I don't know yet. Got to look at some recoil stats on the .32Mag, as I have never fired one.

The latest caliber or gear is no substitute for experience and skill. Rifles and cartridges don't make hits -- shooters do. Fact of life: After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!
