Default A question fromthe newbie

Hey all,

First I want to say this site is the best I have ever experienced with the knowledge level.

I am trying to assist with a collection of various firearms, mostly shotguns and several rifles. I have received help from several outstanding members on the identification of some weapons I had no idea about.

Now I dont really wont to have the collection go to a non-gun auction, and the woman doesnt either but I dont really know the best way to sell the firearms.

Can any of you give some ideas or pointers to reputable dealers or the best way to sell these, some are fairly collectable.
I am in NC if that helps.

Thanks
Steve

After you do some research and determine what the guns are worth, you might check with the various gun dealers in your area and find one who will sell the guns on consignment. The dealer might get 10 or 15 percent of the sale price.

It will probably take longer than an auction, but you are less likely to get burned.

There are dealers in my area that buy collections. Once you do establish the value of them, check with some of the dealers in your area, as ofitg mentioned, there might be some in your area that will do the same!

Are you talking local auction, or online auction?

Are these collectibles are common/modern? Collectibles should go online I think, someone across the country who is looking for THAT gun might pay a lot more than someone local. If they are the kind of thing that are readily available, options abound!

Most of the weapons are old shotguns and some old rifles, she has some modern stuff to though. I just havent educated myself on the firearms selling online regulations yet
