remington speedmaster 552

I have recently been left a Remington speedmaster 552 -22gauge. I cannot find out anything on this in reference to time manufactured or worth. Can anyone help? It has the numbers 1733174 and a small (g) on the left of the reciever.

Manufactured in 1973, it is a .22 caliber rifle. Chambered for the .22LR.
Retail value depending on condition, and overall rarity, is somewhere in the 200-300 dollar neighborhood most likely.
