My brother belongs to a Gun Range in Lake Charles, LA. Yesterday while out at the range he found lots of brass just laying around, and started picking it up. One of the range employees saw him, and come over. He asked my brother if he needed some brass. When the employee was told Yea, he led the way over to a large storage building, and told my brother he could have all the brass he wanted! Boxes, and boxes of brass! All kinds! Sorted, and cleaned! I put in my order for all that he wanted to haul up here! I got so excited I told him I would come get it myself!
![]() I don't guess I'll be buying any more hand gun brass!

Yikes, what a deal! Mt Dept won't give away one empty case, it's all hauled to the dump under guard.
![]() That's great - extra 9mm or 7.62x39mm brass I'd be happy to pay shipping for a few? If not, I understand. |

Good for you, Carver!!
Years ago I read that you should never use range-picked up brass for reloading. Well - I do. That is the single caution I didn't observe. I carefully inspect each and every case, and discard any questionable ones. Still hard for me to picture somebody spending $30- $40 for a box of ammo in a store, then firing it and leaving the brass lay on the ground. Almost every case I've found over the years (THOUSANDS) have been once fired. I do give the reloaded brass that I pick up extra inspectons, but it is sure worth it. I wouldn't do this unless I was very confident in my ability to inspect cases and detect case flaws. I still have all my limbs attached, so I must be doing something right. Good haul! I belong to two gun clubs, I pick up enough brass to feed my habit. Actually I've got buckets full waiting to be cleaned and sorted. Not near as sweet as your deal, cleaned and sorted------------heck of a deal!!!!
