Someone needs to point out to these educated idiots, like Barker, that the 1st amendment to the constitution guarantees the Amreican people Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion. Let the city sell the water tower to a local church for $1.00 and other valuable considerations and then have the church contract with the city to maintain the water tower and this group of godless bungholes will have no valid reason to confront the city. I also say that any person who lives in a community and doesn't have the brass to step forward and announce that he/she is against something, has no business griping to strangers.

This happened some years ago to a small town in IL.
Usually, these outfits pick on small towns that simply cannot afford to fight them in court, so they just cave in.

The town in IL did remove the cross from their water tower.
It was sold to a private citizen who put it up prominently on his private home, and HUNDREDS of residents followed suit. The single cross was removed, but it was replaced by HUNDREDS prominently displayed on private property.

and see how ,long the rest of the nation lets them go on as they where , when the coffee shop they attend or any other store they attend starts in on them, or refuses them service because of their rants , they'll quit or be locked up after going ballistic

Now thats a great thing. I wont say i hate that's wrong , but i do feel sorry for some little weasel who hides and has other weasels do his dirty work for him. I do try to respect others religions and i expect the same in return. Let's hope he gets found out so others in his town know what a low life he is.

The First Amendment protects your freedom OF religion, and freedom FROM religion. Since these people are not being forced by law to respect that cross or to believe in your faith, nobody is in breach of the law by having that cross up. If people are offended by it, they should look the other way.

On the other hand, forcing you to take the cross down IS a violation of your Constitutional rights.

These anti-religious people just tick me and everybody else off. If they don't want to believe in God, then that's fine by me. Nobody is making them. But they shouldn't sit and whine about how we choose to freely express our faith in God or whatever religion we believe in.


It's just like how in the schools you can't say "Christmas Break" or "Easter Break" as it might offend people who aren't religious.
