Default Need help buying ammo for new pistol

I ordered my new Chiappa 1911-22. Can someone tell me what the best high velocity ammo for target shooting would be. From all the videos I have watched, I need to buy a powerfull high velocity to help work the action properly. I would really appreciate your input.

Depends on what the gun will "prefer" after break-in. Buy a few boxes of different speed and brand ammo, your gun may have a like for standard velocity or 36 grain over 40 grain.

You have an excuse to go to the range and play.

I am with Jon.......the CCI ammo seems to work best for me in my Rem 597, Moss Tac 22, and my 22 conversion for my AR15.

I own a Umarex Colt Government 1911 .22. With this pistol, I've done what I normally do with any and ALL auto loader, that I acquire, buy the smallest quantity of different ammo that's available and then find out which brand works best.

Having said that, since I own a number of .22 and have a number of different brands of .22 ammo on hand, so with my Umarex Colt, I've found that I can get by with CCI Blazer with minimal issues which costs me about $18.00- tax included- a brick at a local gun shop. Some of the other "bargain" ammo works OK in this pistol, but this stuff costs a dollar or two more than the Blazer, so I use Blazer for "bargain" ammo. I've also found that Stinger, Mini Mag, and Velocitor by CCI work well also.
