anyone have one of these and have opinions on them? i've heard some say their great but i've also heard they dont shoot worth a dern.

I have a S&W 63, 5" revolver. Works great for me.

The 63 is the stainless J frame .22. It was formerly available with a 4" barrel, more recently with a 5" barrel, and production is starting on the 3" version.
I have 617s with 4", 5" and 6" barrels. The 5" started live as a 6", 6 shot and I had it cut down to 5" because I felt it was too muzzle heavy. I like to use .22 revolvers as surrogates for my bigger guns, so I have matching .22s for my 4" and 5" .357, .44 and .45 revos. I use my .22s a lot. I like my 4" 617 nearly as much as I like my 5". The 4" is about 4.5 oz. lighter than the 5", so you wife might prefer that. The 4" is just over 5 oz. lighter than the 6", and that extra weight is all in the muzzle. |

IMHO, the finest .22 revolvers ever made and about the only good ones currently made.

John I don't have a 10-shot yet but my 6-shot 617 with a 4" barrel is a great shooting gun. Certainly one of the finest revolvers ever made.
