Default Remington single shot rifle

Hi everyone, I am just looking for info I dont remember the model number but I looked at a remington single shot rifle with octagon barrel about 45% condition supposed to been made in the 20s. I am just looking for info on how much they go for and what was the model numbers this might have been or ones close to it. I just no nothing on them and I would like to educate myself on them. I really love how they look and would love to have one some day. Thanks God Bless

Probably a Remington Rolling Block. You could probably find a picture and description on ** or AA. Could be a Model 4 or a Model 6. The Model 6 was cheaper to produce. The M-4 was a miniature version of the larger RB's.

Look on the underside of the barrel for two letters. They will tell you the month and year the rifle was made.

Go here to see what the letters mean: http://www.remingtonsociety.com/ques...ACKPOWDERX.htm

Remington date codes didn't start until 1920 so anything made before then wouldn't have them.

John Gyde and Roy Marcot have published a very good overview of the 22 RF Remington made rifles. Well worth the price.

The OP did say he thought the rifle was made in the 1920's so I thought it may have a date code on the barrel. Apparently it's older than he estimates. I have the Gyde & Marcot book and agree it's excellent. My interest is in the Model 33 and newer rifles so I haven't spent a lot of time on the older rifles.
