50gr bullet loads for the 22H - The Firearms Forum

New to your forum but a long time shooter . Hi guys. Well I was going to load some 50 gr Dogtown soft points over some AA1680 as a christmas gift for the local yote population ! Any you guys had any luck with bullets this heavy in you hornets . I have a Contender Carbine and a Savage 40.

Definition:

Crow Jucie - The red ring surrounding the former location of a crow after being hit with a 22H loaded with a 40gr Nosler BT and 13grs of LIL-Gun .This definition is probably in Websters Newest Dicitionary although it has been in common use in West TN since 1991 .

Back in the day when I had a 22H my bullet of choice was the 45gr. Hornet over 11 grs. of IMR-4227 and a CCI SR BR primer covered 3 shots with a dime at 100 yds. I never used any bullets any heavier than that.

Back in those days we had quiet a problem with wild dogs especially on the farm and that combination dropped them like a brick bat it should work fine just good shot placement and don't try an stretch it out to far.
