theres a few club here that have them as target trainers, they are cheap, take a battering ( new shooters are ROUGH) but still perform
for a entry level target /game rifle they are up there with the names , Enjoy! |

The one in the pic doesn't have an accutrigger.
I have a BV and put a 4-16x scope on it. I can hit paintballs at 50 yards with it. My 11 year old son has a target on his wall with 10 bullets passed through it a 50 yards that you can cover with a nickel. The only thing we ever shoot in it is CCI Mini-Mags and it is probably my most accurate .22 in the stable. |

Awesome, I hear nothing but good about the savage mark II's. I wand a BRJ in 22lr but cant make myself spend $400 on a bolt action 22. but if you think about it you are getting a bull barrel target gun out of the box. they are a good deal.

Nice looking rifle. I have been looking at the Savage MKII FV and the Marlin XT22 VR. Can't make up my mind which one I want. I have started to lean towards the Marlin but one never knows until the time is ripe for the buy.
Did you order yours with the scope? Last edited by jacksonco; 12-10-2011 at 10:00 PM.. |

I had the same problem, went to gander mountain and held both the guns, in my opinion, the savage action is nicer, and I liked how it felt in my hands. Also it had the beautiful wood in this picture which marlin didn't offer. So for me after going and feeling both guns the choice was a no brainier. I suggest you do the same.

TheGunClinger got it , new folks are very rough on gun's so club's buy rifles that can take the odd drop and still function and stay accurate ...

at my old club the rule was if anyone dropped a club rifle they had to buy the committee a round of drinks , now that the clubs closed many places have like a swear jar , you drop it and you put $2 in the jar ... amazing how much is in that jar at times eh

I really like the laminated stock on the rifle. I will probably settle for a synthetic when ever I go to get one.

You could, but I really believe in going and holding both the guns, the savage felt right for me, but the marlin could feel right for you. You won't know until you hold them. Now the marlin not having a beautiful stock and the savage having one isn't really important if your going to get synthetic, it's all bout the action and how the gun feels in your hands.

Got my son a MkII a couple years ago, other than a full bore Mossberg Target rifle I had years ago the Savage is the most accurate .22 I've ever had. It's a standard model MkII.
