I googled gun forums and found this site. I lurked for the longest time before I joined. Stupid of me to wait.
I still belong to several other forums but rarely ever go to them. I've found a family here.

I was seeking information for my first handgun purchase. An internet search brought me here, and the vast library of knowledge drew me in. But it wasn't until I started posting that I really got hooked.

This place is a community, more like a shooting club than just an information source. We share information about firearms and related items, sure, but we also spend a lot of time just discussing what goes on in life. And it's conversations like these that make so many of the members here my friends, even though I've never met them face to face.

I was looking for information on my grandfather's Iver Johnson, and was very impressed with the wealth of information and help that Bill Goforth gave me. Of course the gun wasn't worth much, but Bill was able to give me enough information on the gun, to help confirm the stories and history that I had on the gun. Bill may not have realized it, but that meet a great deal to me.

I fell in love with the folks here and never left. I don't post often, I lurk mostly trying to learn as much as I can. Theres a great bunch of guys and gals here willing to share their knowledge.

A friend whose Father used this site turned me to it and I lurked for a while before joining. Sadly his dad died before I joined here so I had to introduce myself to everyone. It's a great bunch of people on here and I may be absent for a while but I will try and check in every now and then.

Received a .22 that didn't work, I joined several forums making threads covering the same issues with the gun. This one was by far the most helpful and after following the advice I was given, the rifle worked flawlessly and so I stayed here.

I was ( am ) tired of moderators who would go after you, along with many of their cronies, if you posted something they didn't like. There is a well know brand forum that deletes every post they don't agree with.

Right now, the place is hugely covered by ads. Folks are complaining about the lack of space because of the ads. Those same cronies are eating them alive, one after the other, because they don't pay to be there, by donating. Losing otherwise productive membership. I was one of them.

One stop here, finding the Fire For Effect, and I knew I was home.

Just stumbled on TFF as a matter of pure, dumb luck .... I've been on other boards, but, the "people" caused me to start looking elsewhere .

Actually, a gentleman named Josh Smith who makes adjustable front sight for the Mosin Nagants is responsible for me stumbling in the door here... as a business member of his "Mosin Guild" I was looking over his website one day to view what he had done with the links to my Mosin sight adjusting tool website and lo and behold I saw his "recommended websites" and at the top was this forum so I decided to check it out...haven't been here long but enjoying the company and the information.

I was looking for info on a couple H&R revolvers. Discovered this was the best firearms forum out there, especially for vintage items, and stuck around.

To be honest, I don't remember how I found it. I really do enjoy the friendships I have made here, even though I have met only about a dozen of you face to face.

The important thing, to me. is that I DID find TFF.

358 Winchester, and Gabob told me I should check out this forum. I have been a member for a long time but post rarely, by the time I get to read most threads the questions have already been answered. There are people on here that amaze me with the amount of knowlege they have. 358 thought a lot of the admins on here, and after coming here and seeing how this forum is run, I know why.

I remember like it was yesterday. I was running around on the web looking for information on some guns, found this forum, and lurked for a couple of weeks on the puter at work. I had been involved in several on line forums, all motorcycle related, and had some on the net that I had started myself. I was impressed with the knowledge of the members here, and the way everyone just got along with one another. Printed up a page from the forum, came home, and signed up! One of the first things I do almost every morning is to check out the latest on TFF. And the good people here let me post too! Imagine that!

I originally joined in 2002 as one of the 'miscreants' that migrated from another board - the one known as Brand X here. I remember Bob in St Louis, PolishShooter, Xracer, 358 Winchester and a bunch of folks from back then. Left for quite a while, then found my way back. Best gun forum on the net.
