Definitely the 1895 Cowboy. I have the Guide Gun and I shall one day have the Cowboy. I love the 45-70 Gov.

If you can find a scout get a scout. I know 3 people with them and say they are fantastic. The ones Ive shot have very nice triggers and well balanced.

Sort of different guns. For me the Ruger would make more sense for my applications, but I would love the Marlin...........I do have a LC9 and do recommend it...

I was just curious if you ever got the Ruger Scout Rifle, I'm leaning towards getting one and wanted to know if they really stacked up to the hype they had received.

The scout not be of much use to a many hunters. Its just another more specialty rifle. Extras on it thet may or may not ever be used or wanted . I would rather have a 20 or 21" barrel and would only use a regular scope. In 30 years of hunting with centerfire rifles I have never take'n even a second shot at game animals so for me NO. Each person has to deside what they need and go that direction. It is cool looking . I would rather look at a ruger all-weather or savage lwh or a remmy model 7.

Getting a Marlin 336 30-30 for my oldest daughter (18). It is a 12 year old unfired rifle with scope, hard case, box etc. $350 I love leverguns and my next will be a cowboy. I got a handcrafted leather stock sleeve for my 45-70 here. The man is not cheap but he does high quality work. http://www.levergunleather.com

Thanks smraerif for the link! I also love my Marlin 1895 SBL and want to dress it up. I see a bunch of stuff on that site that would be really good looking on the SBL.
