This little beast was built from a castings kit about 30 years ago.
I put a pop can in one of the pics so you can judge the size. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Interesting, what was it used to power? Have you seen those tiny nitromethane powered RC car and airplane engines? They create a LOT of power for their size.

The originals were used on farms (before farms had electric service) for just about everything. Run a belt from an engine like this to a corn sheller, water pump, generator, ect.

In the Navy aboard the Yo-Yo (AD-19) a destroyer tender, a mate built a 4 cyl gas engine from scratch. Casting and all. When we arrived back in port, he was informed that it was gubmint property and it couldn't leave ship. He was heart-broke (and pissed).

Wow....that is nice...There was an old guy who would set up one of those old "pop-pop-poppety-pop-pop" motors on the roadside to power small grist mill...He would grind your corn or had sacks of corn that he would grind for you....I always got some meal from him just to watch and hear the old circa 1901 engine go to popping and banging...

Both are neat.

Nice machines there. I've always liked these old single cylinder engines. There's nothing like that sound they make.

I think he posted a link, but I didn`t follow it up. These things are an interest of my dads, I`m not much into model building myself. For that link that was posted. Go to Rimfire Central, forum near the bottom of the page called "Rimfire Central Community", then look in post "Steam Traction Engine". It`s in one of the last replies.
