Default Finally broke down and bought one...

Well, I did it.

Didn't think I'd ever, but, I bought one, the Remington R1 1911. Price: $659. The pic doesn't do it justice, sorry, my phone camera isn't good enough, and/or the lighting was bad.

Would have liked to get the centennial version, but, it was $500 more, so, no go on that.

I also picked up 500 rounds for it too.

Now, I'll have to start saving my pennies for some Woodnut wood grips!

Anyway..... a Happy New Year to you all.

A set of TFF grips would look nice on it. A beautiful pistol!

I don't think I'd go for that, but, Woodnut's Desert Ironwood, with a bit of texture looks absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, I know. My phone's camera is only 1 or 2 megapixels. I didn't have my Canon Rebel Ti with me to shoot it properly.

500 rounds of ammo? I'll bet that cost as much as the gun?

Congrats on your first 1911.

50 rounds of Federal target ammo 230 grn. (new) was $15.50 a box. I bought 10 boxes for around $170 with tax.

I wish I had more money, cause I'd have bought more.

Had 9mm for 9.99 and .40 for $13.95, wish I coulda bought a case of each.

My hat is off to remington for flooding the market and making these available to everyone unlike several other makers that are still trickling in everywhere.

Default RANGE REPORT!!!!

Well, I got out to the range today with it.

VERY nice!

No FTEs or FTFs at all, out of 150 rounds fired. Shot both Federal and Magtech, 230 grn FMJ. I didn't have any SD ammo to try though, will have to get some more.

Pretty simple to disassemble and clean to. The bushing was a little tight.

But, it shoots like a dream. Very easy to keep on target. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

I am a 1911 convert!

Great to hear ! Now where's some range pics???

It only gets easier to take down and reassemble. Tight bushing is a good bushing!

I know. I bought two of them at once. One to shoot and one to put in the safe.
