All I can honestly say is they work good on vermin of smaller sizes. Buy a few boxes of the 2.2" 6 pellet full velocity OO buck rounds I linked. They shoot great. I tested a bunch of low recoiling rounds after a neck injury from my last deployment limited my ability to shoot heavy recoiling long guns of any kind.
In the end I got a 410 and recoil is far less with a lighter gun. Do a 2 buckshot to 1 .65" ball and the combo will put down anything that might give you troubles.
Now my dad has a bunch of short buckshot and .65" ball loads lol. Good consistent ammo with plenty of punch on top of that capacity. Should make a great HD combo.
Dont give up on looking for a good short 12gauge round yet!
