10 Reasons Why to Own a Ruger Single Six
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.Overall quality of manufacturing. 2.Accuracy beyond 50 feet. 3.Simplicity,to introduce a new or young shooter who is unfamilar with firearms. 4.Will last several lifetimes. 5.Ability to fire the more powerful Magnum round if needed. 6.The way it feels being handled or held and overall balance. 7.Knowing it will be handed down to your children and won't break or malfunction easily. 8.Single action slows down your rate of fire and causes you to aim better. 9.Overall cost of the ammunition to shoot it. 10.Old west nostalgia factor. Picking a favorite gun is very difficult because I like them all. Also I realize this post is on the centerfire pistols & revolvers forum but you asked what is your favorite gun and why?I guess this could include the Ruger Blackhawk as well. With it's ability to shoot the 38 special rounds and 9mm as a alternative chioce of ammo and it's low cost to shoot the gun. |

It'd likely be a Ruger. But which one is hard to say. I love my little LCR .38 as a pocket gun. I love my SP101, .357 in a high-ride OSW holster.
I love my old model Vaquero, .45 Colt, for some casual shooting. And my 10/22 is great for plinking or catching unsuspecting varmints. Or it could be any one of a few other Rugers. It'd just be hard to pick one out of several.

I would have to say the PM Makarov. The reasons why? It's all metal and built like a tank. it is very accurate. The entire pistol has only 29-30 total parts and can be easily completely torn down and put back together and is totally dependable. I own and have owned Sigs, Smiths, Taurus,CZ,Bersa,Sterling, IJ and others. I may not be the prettiest but that doesn't matter to me. I think it is pretty in it's own wright.

OK guys, that just plain UNFAIR!! My favorite gun? ONE, FAVORITE GUN? You gotta be kidding. We are "gun nuts" here - this is TFF for God's sake!!
How about:1. Favorite center fire rifle - Springfield 1903 sporter w/Synth stock and 3-9x40 2. Favorite shotgun - Marlin 90 O/U 12G. 3. Favorite 22 - Ruger 10/22 w/4x scope and "Red Lips" 4. Favorite handgun - Auto Ord/Thompson 1911-A1 45acp |

The one I shoot the most is a Ruger Vaquero .357. Also have a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 that I shoot almost as much. Both would be my favorite! or maybe the Hartford .357 lever gun? Or maybe the Henry Big Boy .357? OK any thing chambered for the .357. That's my final answer.

I guess it would have to be the S&W 629. I can shoot 44 spl for practice, small game and self defense, but load it up with big magnums for the bigger stuff. It is effective out to longer ranges as long as I do my part.

It's hard to pick a favorite. I guess my absolute favorite would have to be my H&R ultra varmint .223

My favorite? I have a real attachment to my Colt XSE Commander. But I am also rigidly attached to my Browning MK III Hi-Power .40 S&W. I reckon it would be one or the other of the two mentioned.

I will only list my favorite handgun on this post and it would have to be my Colt Python. My Dad bought this gun new in 1976 and gave it to me a few years before he passed away. Dad carried it everyday for several years but when he was in the hospital a few years ago he wanted me to have it thinking something was terribly wrong with him at the time. That was about 6 years before he passed away but I still remembe the day that he handed it to me like it was yesterday.

Colt 4" blued Python. Real, old stag grips. I like most Colt revolvers because of their quality and appearance. They are well designed and made...even though they are no longer made they can be tuned well and with care they will last for several generations of collectors.

My Mosin-Nagant M38 Carbine. Why? Because this is my first gun. And my first time I bruised the crap out of my arm.

I would have to say of all the center fire revolver handguns I have....it's a toss up between my S&W 10-6 heavy 4" barrel, and my Colt Trooper MKIII .357, 4" barrel. Both guns have excellent triggers, and are more accurate then I am. I like shooting them both from 25-50 yrds, and have used them for the combat shooting competition at our gun club. With the reloading that I do for 'all' my center fire gun's, they are not that expensive to shoot, that is a big reason why I enjoy both of these pistols.

My Stoeger Cougar 9mm because it is such a sweet shooter, low recoil, nice trigger, accurate. It just is an excellent working gun.
I am starting to like my Ruger SR9c Very much also for the same reasons plus it is more concealable. Both are very nice. |

My second favorite gun is my Springfield XD45. It has never jammed on me and it is accurate out to 100 yards easily. It fits in my hand nicely and I can conceal it with a light jacket on. It's a great pistol. Also, it is nice to shoot because I can easily perform one handed shots while eating Eddy's Thin Mint ice cream. My accuracy is not so great when I do that, but what the heck. It sure is rewarding.

1911. Now, that may be a little hard to determine which one out of the 13 of them I own that I like best, but its definitely a 1911. Why? Because they are just the best handgun ever made, hands down.

If I had a 1911 then I believe that would be my favorite. Until then I'll have to wait.

Favorite handgun? Glock 20 - very few things on this continent that it won't work against.
Favorite long gun? M1 carbine - great shooter with the historical aspect thrown in.

Beretta M1935. I love the way this little gun shoots, its acurate, and built like a tank. By todays standards it heavy and the Trigger pull is heavy but for me it is a great prformer.

To try and to think of just one firearm as a favorite is way to hard, too
many that I think as my favorites everytime I get my hands on one that I own. I've got 4, probably that I shoot the most. One is the H&R 829 and for a 3" barreled .22lr, it's "crazy accurate." And to say I can nail a pop can out to 275yds with it, well most dont believe that, so I wont say it! ![]() (and pop cans @ 100yds gun up-side down, 8 out of 9 shot's fired) I wont go there either! One revolver that is a "favorite", for sure. The other is the S&W 586 DCM that I shoot alot. Feels great in my hands and another "crazy accurate" shooting revolver. Another one, my Ruger Single Ten is being repaired, but it too is a favorite, as I have put who know's how many rounds though it... These are the 2 favorites because I shoot'em the most and thier accuracy is, pretty good to say the least. (hard to narrow it down as to a favorite!) *The Ruger with the Savage is an older single six, as NIB, just had it there when the pic was taken.

I don't know what it is but my Ruger 44 mag is my favorite gun by far. Kicks like a mule. Expensive ammo. Can't go to the range without it.
