Just saw this on TV. If the intruder wasn't a scumbag he'd still be alive. He had a 21 inch hunting knife with him...she did the right thing

I'm surprised the huffington post would even print this story, liberal as they are. I read several pages of comments after the story and only saw a couple of typical anti-gun posts. Really surprised they didn't disable comments!.

I noticed she had received legal advice.

Typical response, after the shooting, while hopped up on adrenalin - "I'm glad he's dead, and if I had to do it over again I'd still shoot him".

What she said - "I did what I had to do". That would go over much better at the trial, than the first comment would.

One can only imagine the fear this young woman felt as she blocked her door with a sofa doing what she could to protect herself, and her child.

granted, I agree with all that has been said above. but I gotta wonder, will she have mental health issues or great fear of strangers? I feel the surviving intruder should be held responsible in some form for that.

Sometimes this is the case. This time I hope that this young woman does OK in the weeks, months, and years to follow. I pray that I never find myself in this situation. Taking another persons life is not a reason to celebrate, but to morn. She did the right thing. I applaud her courage, and fortitude. And wish her well in the future. Still having a problem with the fact that she was on the phone with 911 for 21 minutes, and no police in all that time. I wonder, just when did the police arrive? Remember, The police are only minutes away, when seconds count!!

Thank God she lives in a state like Oklahoma where innocent people can protect themselves and thier loved ones without being imprisoned. This is what I've talked about recently with others. When someone's busting in your door you cant afford the time it takes to determine who or what he is or how he's armed, not when the lives of you and your loved one's are at stake. She absolutely did the right thing.

The best part is the second would-be robber ran. He later turned himself in to police and is now being charged with the murder of his partner (through some wierd law).
I hope the babys hearing is OK after being that close to the shotgun blast

Them boyz messed up just bringing a knife to a gunfight like that. #2 was a coward all the way thru, following his partner cause he had no weapon and immediately cut trail & ran.

I applaude this mother. There is one thing more dangeous than a man coming through the door with a knife and that would be a mother with a gun and a baby to protect. It never pays to mess with mother bear, and she proved it.

I know there are lots of different thoughts about the ultimate home defense weapon.

But honestly, I can think of NOTHING more intimidating that the thought of facing a scared woman holding a 12 gauge pointed my direction.
