If that tommy gun is still full auto and not demilled. I would expect it to bring well over $25,000.

I remember seeing it when I was a kid also (probably in late 60's) Paid 50 cents to see it. Didn't Clyde Barrow run a BAR during his hayday as a crimnal?

Yea...I agree with Fleetwood...it should bring a lot more, but I suspect a demil somewhere along the line...Heck, a licenseable M-28 will fetch about 18K...IF the original paperwork and serial number cant be found on a fully automatic weapon, it cant be transferred in any way I know.....May have got in under the amnesty thing, I dunno...If its well documented as a Bonnie and Clyde weapon and can be legally transferred...figure Id add at least 100K to that figure...
I have seen a brand new condition original BAR with extra mags, mag pouches, sling, oiler, cleaning kit, bag of dessicant in the original box at one of our sheriffs office...No one knew when the department bought it or otherwise came by it, but it was sometime before the regisration was required...They had it for years and years in the amrory and can never sell it because there is no paperwork trail... The serial number could not be traced back, so it prob still sits in the armory...what a shame....Bonnie and Clyde were eradicated about 60 miles from here...The small museum there was overseen by the son one of the officers who participated in the ambush...He may have passed on by now, but what interesting stories he told....Wasnt no Clyde Beaty and Mia Farrow thing at all...

You've read the story of Jesse James
Of how he lived and died If you're still in need for something to read Here's the story of Bonnie and Clyde. Now Bonnie and Clyde are the Barrow gang, I'm sure you all have read how they rob and steal And those who squeal are usually found dying or dead. There's lots of untruths to those write-ups They're not so ruthless as that Their nature is raw, they hate all law Stool pigeons, spotters, and rats. They call them cold-blooded killers They say they are heartless and mean But I say this with pride, I once knew Clyde When he was honest and upright and clean. But the laws fooled around and taking him down and locking him up in a cell 'Till he said to me, "I'll never be free So I'll meet a few of them in hell." The road was so dimly lighted There were no highway signs to guide But they made up their minds if all roads were blind They wouldn't give up 'till they died. The road gets dimmer and dimmer Sometimes you can hardly see But it's fight man to man, and do all you can For they know they can never be free. From heartbreak some people have suffered From weariness some people have died But all in all, our troubles are small 'Till we get like Bonnie and Clyde. If a policeman is killed in Dallas And they have no clue or guide If they can't find a friend, just wipe the slate clean And hang it on Bonnie and Clyde. There's two crimes committed in America Not accredited to the Barrow Mob They had no hand in the kidnap demand Nor the Kansas City Depot job. A newsboy once said to his buddy "I wish old Clyde would get jumped In these hard times we's get a few dimes If five or six cops would get bumped." "The police haven't got the report yet But Clyde called me up today He said, "Don't start any fights, we aren't working nights, we're joining the NRA." From Irving to West Dallas viaduct Is known as the Great Divide Where the women are kin and men are men And they won't stool on Bonnie and Clyde. If they try to act like citizens And rent a nice little flat About the third night they're invited to fight By a sub-gun's rat-tat-tat. They don't think they're tough or desperate They know the law always wins They've been shot at before, but they do not ignore That death is the wages of sin. Someday they'll go down together And they'll bury them side by side To few it'll be grief, to the law a relief But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.

I came across this item about the gun "used" by Frank Hamer in the B&C ambush see http://thegreatmodel8.remingtonsociety.com/?page_id=434. (I believe someone had posted here about info regarding a Model 8). Somewhere in my search was a photo of the guns pulled out of B&C's car, laid out on the roof or trunk but I can find it now. If I do I'll repost. It might be some that are head to the auction.

" exact quantities of weapons found in Bonnie and Clyde's 1934 Ford V8 death car are a matter of some debate. The following is a summary of the lists of weapons reportedly found in the 1934 Ford V8:
Three 30-caliber Browning automatic rifles (BARs) (definite) One ten-gauge sawed-off shotgun (definite) One twenty-gauge sawed-off shotgun (definite) Six or seven Colt 45-caliber automatic pistols (definite) One Colt 32-caliber automatic pistol (probably) One Colt 38-caliber revolver or pistol (probably) One Colt 45-caliber revolver (probably) 2000-3000 rounds of ammunition (definite) The most heinous weapon of all: one saxophone (definite)" |
