You may have failure to fire consistently, or failure to fire at all. It would depend on where the spring broke and how much tension is left in the remaining pieces. What rifle? And what spring?

Depends on the spring and the gun.
Recoil spring on a semi auto, and the bolt will slam back, maybe breaking something, and won't go forward again, so you just had the one shot. Hammer spring, and you pull the trigger but nothing pushes the hammer forward, so gun don't fire. Magazine spring, round in chamber fires, but next round won't feed. Trigger return spring, you pull the trigger, gun goes bang, but trigger don't go forward to reset, so you can't shoot again. Which one broke?
