Default New Year - New Job!

Well - just got word that my background checks panned out and that I start a new job Monday at our local power company! I've been contracting for them for 15 years (since I left their sister company in an early out program and started my own business). This will have me doing the same job I've been contracting to do (training development) and provide benefits. I'll also stay involved in my other companies.

So, to all of those still looking - don't give up; there are jobs out there and there are companies hiring!

Congratulations on the job!

And I guess background checks, drug testing, fingerprinting and all of that go along with a lot of jobs now. Used to be a whole lot simplier.

Thanks!

It only took 6 weeks to verify that I have been contracting for the same employer doing the same job for 15 years and that I passed the same drug screening as a contractor! Thank goodness for logic and bureaucrats - how could the world function without them?

Congrats geds! I hope it all goes well for ya.
I've been entertaining the thought of a job change also. Waiting to see what the offer looks like. If it's a good offer, I'll be heading back into overhead crane service work. It would be a closer commute with a company vehicle and gas card. M-F dayshift. I won't miss rotating shifts one little bit.
I agree, there's still jobs out there if one is willing to put in the effort to go after it and be willing to relocate possibly.

Glad to hear things are going good. My wife did something similar with the power co down here(training) until she retired. Then she went back to work with them part time in customer service. She only works one day a week, so we have time to do the things retired people do.
