Our club had a benchrest rimfire match last Sunday. We shot 25 & 50 yards on the USBR target: The Rimfire E-Mail Match course of fire. Our scores will count in the June E-Mail Match sponsored over on Rimfire Central.

I talked to some of the local shooters about your "take a picture of the target" match. We are thinking of having a "side match" at our next shoot on July 13th. The Side Match will be at 100 yards on the NRA 100 yard A-25 target: Same as the WalMart target with the 1 inch "X" ring and the 2 inch 10 ring.

If your shooters would agree to use that target at 100 yards, we would like to participate in your "picture" match. In last Sunday's match we had 21 shooters. I can't say how many of these local guys would be willing to shoot at 100 yards in our July match, but some of us would like to enter our scores in your match, if we can all agree on the course of fire.

What would you set for the rules (course of fire)?
Use a rest? Open sights? Scopes? Any target the has a 1” X and 2” 10 ring? Etc. etc.

    Shoot it . . .

    Score it.
Take a picture of the target.
    Post it here.

I'll try to get a few scores in before we have our next match on July 13th.

    10 shots at 100 yards.
NRA A-25 target or the WalMart equivalant target:
1 inch X ring; 2 inch ten ring; 4 inch nine ring; 6 inch eight ring; 8 inch seven ring; 10 inch six ring and 12 inch five ring.
    Any rifle or pistol.
    Any sights.
    Any position.

    Picking up the targets tomorrow.

Yea: The wife is going to WalMart tomorrow morning and I am gona tag along. Gona get a couple packs of those WalMart targets with the one inch "x" and 2 inch 10 ring.

My grand son wants to go fishing in the afternoon, but we should be able to give that 100 yard target a try on Tuesday or Wednesday. Haven't shot that target in competition since I was "into" NRA smallbore prone tournament back in the late 50's and early 60's.

Ya want pictures of just the target and rifle or do you want the shooter in the picture too?

    Heck Yea!!!

Last time I tries 100 yards I did'nt do so good. Don't take much wind to throw'em off at that distance.
I'll try and go this Saturday if things go right for a change.
Still trying ammo for 100 yards and 50 too since the new brick of Wolf don't impress me much.

    The wind

    Yea: The wind.

A 10 MPH cross wind will drift the .22 rimfire:
    1/4 inch at 25 yards.
    1 inch at 50 yards.
    4 inches at 100 yards.

If you are sighted in at 100 yards in calm conditions and a 10 MPH wind comes up from 3 o'clock: AND YOU DON'T SEE IT, you now have a 4 inch group.

If the wind now switches to 9 o'clock: AND YOU DON'T SEE IT: You now at an 8 inch group, all shots in a line from left to right.

Watch the wind! If you have a real bad target, post it anyway: And: BLAME IT ON THE WIND.

    Joe :)

It seems to me that we need to sight our guns in when there is NO wind...then learn the effects the wind has on the bullit in flight. It looks to me like anything past 75 yards is just throwin them in there amongst the others Until you git sighted in and learn the wind. It is a lotta fun but be ready to git aggrivated,,,I know I will
