Took em long enough to mass produce it. I read it in G&A Jan 2012 issue. Hornady is boasting their 20 gr Vmax at 3650.

    Beware 17 fireball... :)

I dunno, for all intents and purposes they seem to be pretty equal performers and the hornet is more efficient. And it can be chambered in a wider array of platforms including revolvers.

I think its too small to hit mach 4, but thats not to say someone couldnt play with different powders and bullets and get it close. which is the whole point. Near mach 4 with a very light charge of powder. I think its probably the most efficient centerfire offered to date. Should be realy popular among varmint shooters and will most likely be THE go to round for gophers and P dogs.

And it's still cruising at over 2100 fps at 300 yds. Not a bad varmint round.

id like to have a 10" barreld scoped revolver in .17 hornet. I think that would make a sweet 200 yd P-dog rig.
