Hello.I have a Winchstr 1897 - 16 ga - 2 9/16 chamber made in 1913 according to ser numbers. It is in tight condition with nice patina. Nice wood but has been refinished in my opinion. Is it worth keeping original?

Friends sed to ream out for 2 3/4 ammo. Is this a dum idea or will not affect value of the gun. I pade $300 for it. Thanks.

The 93 is chambered 2 1/2 your late model 97 should be chambered for 2 3/4

Should have a letter C or later over the ser #

Link to some good 97 info

    Others tell me 1897 in 16 gage was 2 1/2 until 1931.
