1972 detective special .38

    thank you for looking at my question....i have a detective special .38
    nickel plated with a 2 inch barrel...unfired with the box...no papers.
    i called colt and they told me it was 1972..without a picture can you venture
    a guess as to its sale value?

    Welcome to the forum.

    So called "Blue Book " values are often "way off" in both directions. Although, too high is likely more common than too low. If from Google or Yahoo, etc., you type in something like "firearm auctions" you will find two big or major Internet auctions for firearms. Go to either or both and search for "colt detective special". You will find numerous examples currently up for bid including at least one apparently like you describe yours. It is up to $550.00 on 2 bids, or "buy it now" for $675.00.
