Be nice Jack, a lot of places around here won't let you see a coyote much farther than that and if a 22-50 is what he has than that is what he has to shoot.

At that range it doesn't make a lot of difference what bullet you shoot at coyote size animals, they will not be able to tell the difference. Pick one that shoots accurate in your gun and relax, if you do your part the coyote will play dead shortly after you squeeze off your shot.

Sorry Grump i shoot for meat or hides

probably wouldnt eat a coyote and 150 is borderline for a whole pelt if ya get my drift

great for exploding crows at 150!!

Thanks and where I live in SE TX has a lot brush & trees, a long shot is 150 yards. It is not like west tX where you can get 300 to 500 yards shots. Most of my shots are at 50 to 100 yards.

Are you hide hunting or just doing population control?
For hides and just at short range (200yds or less), I would also consider trying a 40, 45, or 50gr.

My first .22-250 just loved the old Sierra 40gr Blitz HP @ 3900fps (this was many years before the polymer-tip BlitzKing line). It was a super 'yote bullet...I seldom had an exit hole with it.
My last one preferred either the Hornady 55gr SP or the Winchester 55gr PSP @ 3600fps. This rifle really liked the factory Winchester 55gr PSP load too which is why I tried the Winchester bulk bullet for reloads.

IMR4064 and W748 were my preferred powders back then, but nowadays I'd probably try Varget too.

Your rem 700 should have a 12 or 14 twist barrel. you will need to make sure exactly because it has absolute say in what bullets it will shoot well.
