I have this H&R .22 Long Rifle Pistol.
It looks like it is a real old gun.
Don`t have any blueing or brown on it just metal color.
It is a model 676 Buntline with a full 12 inch barrel.
It is is fairly good condition and shoot very well.
Serial number is AR 16483.cylinder is not flutted and it has .22 long rifle on it.
The only markings on the barrel are as follows
    MODEL 676
    22 CAL.
    MADE IS U.S.A.
On the frame over the trigger on the left side it has
    No other markings on gun.
Handles I`m not sure of as they look hand made and have been broken and repaired.
    The rear sight is missing.
I`d like to know how old it is and the value.
    E-mail is joewayne@twlakes.net

H&R 676, mfg. 1975-1980. Not really an old gun. Originally came with 2 cylinders, 22 LR and 22 magnum.

Blue book value is $110 in 60% condition, sounds like yours might
not even be that good. (No remaining finish, broken/repaired grips,
    missing sight)

    +20% for 12 inch barrel
-$35 if you only have one cylinder.

    So--based on your description, it's worth maybe $60-$75? That's
retail--if you sell it to a dealer you might get $40. Maybe.

Keep it, shoot it. If you ever wanted to try some gun refinishing,
grip carving, etc., this would be a good candidate.

Try Numrich arms for a rear sight and a set of factory grips.

Thanks a bunch, I`ll hold onto it and try to find a rear site.
I have the stuff to reblue it with, I`ll give it a try.

AR prefix = 1977 manufacture of your model 676.
Here is a link to Numrich gun parts.
I looked up your model 676.
They show the rear sight, and new grips as being available.

    Grips, part # 269630 $ 20.60
    Sight, part # 269850 $ 3.45
I've always had real good luck with them. Give them a call to make sure of availability.

p.s. I have a spare 22 mag cylinder if you are interested.

I collect H&R convertibles, I have 8 that are all excellent condition, with original boxes. I watch these models al the time, and even in the condition you speak, I think that yours is probably worth more than others have mentioned here, especially with the 12 inch barrel.
Just last week, a 676 with 12 barrel sold for $ 450. It was in nice condition, with both cylinders. But, I still fel yours should be worth $ 125 + in condition you describe, and I feel worth buying the parts to repair it!
Pictures would help us to give you a better clue to valuing it.
Here is another link you may enjoy. It is a You Tube video of my H&R collection, Featuring mostly my H&R convertibles.

Joe I've got a few H&R's, have had no problems.
Not worth much, but good plinkers.

Might be interested in the magnum cylinder??
    What you got to have?
I reblued this one, found out it had a nickel plated frame, didn`t do too well.
I`ll go back and buff it down and see if I can do it again.
The barrel and cylinder did real well, loos new!!

    Hello Joe,
I'm curious if you still have the extra 22 MAG cylinder available for the H&R 676?
I'm very much interested in it if you still have it. Please let me know. Thanks!

Joe didn't have the cylinder - it was James. Oops!

My H&R You Tube video is now back up and running!

    Sorry about the video.
My friend who made it, put background music to it.
Now, a year later, someone saw it, and turned it in.
seems using the music without previous permission is a copywright infringement.
He has written an apology, and request for permission to use the music.
Sounds like it won't be a problem.
If it is, he tells me he will edit the music out, and repost the video.
