I am in the process of thinning my gun collection and would like to get some info on a few guns. I have a .22 Stevens Visible Loading Repeater that I would like to get some info on. I have no idea how old the gun is or what it's value might be. I've owned the gun for ~40 years and have shot it very little (<100x). The guy that gave it to me kept it in his gun cabinet and I never knew of him shooting it. The only other engraving that I can see on the barrel says "Patent Apr 30-07 Chicopee Falls, Mass."

It is in great condition as you can see from the pics. I don't see any scratches or dings at all on the gun.

    Thanks for any info.

Hi Cabin Fever.....welcome to TFF. :)

The Stevens "Visible Loader" was made from 1907 to 1932.

The Standard Catalog of Firearms values it at:

    Exc. - $400
    V.G. - $350
    Good - $225
    Fair - $100

Not terribly valuable or collectable, but a very nice old shooter......hope you'll hang on to it! :)

Why such a value difference between the Blue Book and the Standard Catalog of Firearms?

Unfortunately, this one is kind of ear-marked to go...

    Blue Book (27th Edition):

No. 70 "Visible Loading Slide Action Rifle:

    98% - $175
    95% - $150
    90% - $130
    80% - $115
    70% - $100

Don't know why the descrepancy in prices between the Blue Book and the SCOF....my personal opinion is that the BB is low and the SCOF is just a tad high.

Going by your photos (and if action is tight and the bore is good), I'd try in $300 range.

    Good luck. :)
