I did a NFA Trust last week and just had it and my Form 4 for a .22 suppressor electronically transmitted to ATF on Friday, 13 Dec. Lets see how long it takes to get approved and back to me! I was told that it takes about 9 months - so I should have it approved and the suppressor in my hands in August 2014. WOW that's forever!!
Now if I can just find some .22 ammo to shoot through it . . . . . . . .
I do love it! I picked it up this past Friday and so far I have only put about 30 or 40 rounds through it, out in the back yard. Of those rounds about half a dozen were .22 shorts. The only sound you can hear with them is when the firing pin hits the case. Range report still to come!
I would love to have one for the ARs. I was looking at the web site for the one I bought (Huntertown Arms) and it surprised me to see that it would support a 5.7x28. The dealer told me specifically that it would not cause I asked. I contacted Huntertown and asked them and explained I did read it on the website. It seems that the "new models" support it. For a mere $150, they will take mine and upgrade it to support the 5.7. I am very tempted cause I have a 5.7 barrel for my Thompson Contender and I know Helix can thread it!!

After thinking about it for three months, I decided to "bite the bullet", and get the upgrade. I contacted Huntertown Arms, again, to verify the price of the upgrade and to see if they will take "plastic" payment. I also contacted Helix to see if he could thread my Contender barrel.
I packaged up the barrel and mailed it to Helix this morning and I also packaged up the suppressor and mailed it off to Hunterteown. They told me that it would only be a two day turnaround for the thing to be upgraded and back in the mail to me. I just hope that is true so I can take the suppressor to the BBQ with me in three weeks.
I look forward to shooting that 5.7X28 suppressed!!
Woo Hoo, I got notification today that my "upgraded" .22 suppressor is on its way back to me. Upon checking the delivery conformation number, I see that it should be here on Wednesday. I was hoping that it would make it back by the BBQ so I could take it with me!
I am looking forward to trying it out on the 5.7X28 thompson contender barrel when I get it back from Helix!!
All right, it took me a little while but here you go.
This first one is of the Thompson Contender 5.7X27 with the suppressor attached:
Here is what the baffles looked like before the "upgrade":
And after the upgrade, the difference is that five of the baffles have longer "sides" on them, one looks almost like the old ones and the blast chamber is a totally separate piece. they all lock together to fit inside the tube:
Here it is "locked" together as it goes into the tube. The small baffle is at the muzzle end and the blast chamber is of course at the end that screws onto the gun:
This was sent back to Huntertown Arms for the upgrade which I was told would cost me $150. I gave them my credit card information at the time I mailed it but as of yet they have not charged my card for the upgrade.
Helix-FR, who is a member here, did the threading of the barrel and did a great job of it. For the price he quoted me, he did the threading, made a thread protector, and mailed it back to me.
