.22 WMR

    i have a remington bolt action .22 rifle and was wondering if i can use .22 WMR (Winchester magnum rimfire) cartridges in it without any problems. any information would be greatly appreciated.

    only if your barrel is marked ".22WMR ".if it is marked .22short,long,long rifle,Do not install .22WMR.

    Actually, if it is marked short/long/long rifle, 22 magnum won't fit.

    .22 WMR is a bigger cartridge than .22 LR and its siblings. Now the old .22 WRF chambering will accomodate and fire the.22 WMR but it is dangerous to do so. The old .22 WRF ammo can be safely fired in a .22 WMR rifle without problems...

    Thanks to all who responded. I did not know that it was dangerous and would not fit. glad i asked from those who know. a lot of things i do not know and have to ask. i just happened to see this cartridge in a book and thought i would ask about it. thanks again.
