Hello, Does anyone have a recipe using Hornady 180gr SP bullets and alliant powder for 30-06? Also is anyone using this bullet? what do you think of it?

ryan, I looked in three of my manuals and do not find anything for "alliant" powder. It would be better to know which alliant powder since they make a whole bunch of different kinds. You might check your manual and find what you are looking for.

I personally have never loaded a 180 grain bullet, only 150 and 168 grain,

    Reloder 17 - 54.5 grains MAX
    Reloder 19 - 59 grains MAX
    reloder 22 - 62 grains MAX
    4000MR - 57 grains MAX

all with 180 gr bullets, reduce MAX by 10% and work back up...

Thats exactly what i wanted JLA thanks, I just made a quick post so wasnt really thinking. But ive got Reloder 15 and 17. Correct me if im wrong but isnt Reloder 17 a newer powder? One of the manuals I have does not list it.

Also using this load for target and hunting deer.

Reloader 15 is a start of 41.2gn - a max of 47.5gn ( Hornady 7th ed ) but double check everything you read on the internet.

yes, its a relatively new release. I pulled all that data off the Alliant site...

If you get a chance, give that new 4000MR a try. Alliants new ball line is fantastic. Im using the new 2000MR in my .308 and getting .30-06 performance with a 180 gr bullet and with less pressure...
