Any one have some good info on loading this new round? I am looking at the 110gr, 130 gr, and 220gr.

    Thanks.

I just got a 300 Blackout rifle also and will be following this thread. I did learn from another forum that it's advisable to use either Remington or CCI small rifle primers as they have a harder cup and won't be pierced by the AR-15 firing pin.

Interesting....I always use cci and the rem is recommended. In the ar15, cci has no problem. Just an FYI to your response that it seems to be correct.

I just got in my h110 and am going to try imr4227 for subsonic and see where that goes. I heard that the accurate does not burn all the way in shorter barrels...that is why I am trying the 4227.

I have been reloading for the 300 Whisiper/aka Blackout for about 4 or so years - all subsonic with heavy, ie, 220 and 240 gr. Stopped using H 110 as it has a tendency to overpressure when the temps rise, at least for me.

Currently favor either LilGun or IMR 4227 as I am getting consistent SD on my loads with very good accuracy.

I shoot a bolt, heavy barrel with 1:8 twist.

    Hope this helps.

I picked up a M&P 15 300 whisper and will be reloading for the 300 AAC, whenever I find a place that has some LEE dies in stock.

How are the CCI #41 primers for use in this setup, or is that necessary?

In case anyone has been looking for Die's, Midway just got the Lee dies back in stock. Still don't have the case length gauge back in stock, but at least I finally got a set of die's coming.

I have resurrected this old thread cause I have questions about 300 Blackout. No need starting a new thread when there is an old one I can open.

I have been toying with the idea for several weeks of building a 300 Blackout AR. A couple of days ago I came across an H&R Handi Rifle for less money than I could buy a 300Blackout AR barrel for. Here is a link: http://grabagun.com/advanced-armament-corp-h-r-handi-rfl-300blk-16-threade.html

Instead of spending somewhere between $300 - $500 to build or buy an upper, I ordered the above H&R rifle. I traded 60 rounds of .223 Ammo for 250 pieces of 300 Blackout brass and I already have a supply of powder, primers, and .308 diameter bullets, (110 grain, 150 grain, and 168 grain). I am getting ready to order the loading dies and a FCD die from Midway.

None of my manuals have any data for a 300 Blackout, unless they are called something else. That doesn't bother me, I looked at the Hornady website and see load data there. I don't have a specific intended use for the rifle, just playing or target shooting. Don't really know why in the heck I bought it!!

My questions are concerning the round itself, probably kind of silly questions:

What do you think is the best bullet weight?
Does it head space on the shoulder (since it has a bottleneck case)?
I am going to assume that it needs a taper crimp - yes or no?

    Any discussion will be appreciated.

I have read that .300 whisper data is interchangeable.

    gd,
What are you looking for, supersonic lighter bullets or heavy subsonic.
I have loaded for the Whisper for well over 6 years now and have numerous "recipes"

I have been loading sone 130 gr. FMJ using IMR4227 and some milsurp 110 frangible bullets using H110 with good success in both the original bolt action suppressed and my newer AR15 semi.
I swap the can out on these two but mainly run subs in the bolt and supersonics in the AR.
Can pm load data if you want.

upload_2015-2-23_12-35-37.png Found this for your perusal. I tend to go more with AA#9 as I found some of the others were a bit quirky with pressures and initially blew out a few primers using some other powders at recommended rates.
AA#9 seems to be easier to hold velocities in a tighter range for me subsonic.
I also have used both Lehigh and Outlaw States specialty bullets for hunting and if that is your intent I can give you loading data.
