Anyone out there load this classic?

It was my parent's favorite caliber and in settling their estate I found a box with their complete, circa 1960's, reloading set up - press, dies, the lot.

    Recommendations for loads eagerly sought.

I own a .338-06 but they are kissing cousins in terms of ballistics. A good buddy of mine shoots the .35 whelen...I will give you the load I load for him. These rifle really shine over an 30-06 with the heavier bullets.

49 grains of Reloader 15 over a 250 gr Nosler partition. Havent got a Chrony...book says 2300 fps. Good enough for anything on this continent.

    Hope this helps. swede

    Hi.
In my oppinion, this is the best all round hunting cartrige for North Am. I shot a 1200 lb bull Moose last year with my Remington 7600 pump. With full house loads, the recoil is moderate. You can't beat a 250 gr. slug on large game. This round will take anything you want to shoot. Enjoy!

No question regarding firearms and shooting is stupid!

The 35 Remington was developed by Remington 'way back at the beginning of the last century to compete with Winchester's self loading rifles. The Remington round originally came out in a semi-auto rifle and has been a favored caliber for eastern woods hunters since. More than anything, you can compare it to a .308 Winchester case that is necked out to .357, although the .35 Rem has a slightly smaller case and capacity.

The .35 Whelen, is of course, a full length 30-06 Spfld case that has been necked out to the same .357 caliber. The .35 Whelen is about 33% more potent than the .35 Remington with the same weight bullets.
