Okay, you can shoot .38spl in .357 mag revolver.

Can you shoot .44 special in .44 mag revolver?

Yes sir! One draw back is 44 special is a lot slower than 44 MAg. I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Mag. We shot some 44 mag at a log floating in a pond on our farm and the pond was 100 yards away. The 44 mag was bang and see the water splash(yea we are that bad a shot:D ). We shot some 44 special at it just to see how much slower they were and after the bang you could almost count to 3 before seeing the splash.;) 44 special are great to plink with in 44mag pistols at 25 or so yards IMHO. Saves a little money as well.

Glad to see you at TFF, Brutus.

Generally the same rule applies to the .44/.44 Mag as .38/.357.

And that would be my very purpose. Thanks for the info. Usually shoot autoloaders in IDPA competition. Just purchased a Ruger Super Blackhawk for wandering the hollers and mountains of Southwest VA and Western N.C.

    Thanks for the info.

I often shoot 44 special reloads in my super blackhawk, less recoil, fun, and cheaper to shoot! One drawback is that you do have to keep the cylinders very clean or you will develop a carbon ring which tends to deter the mag shells just a tad!

Still like the wrist thumping I get with the 44 mag hot loads from time to time!! I also have a 44 Mag rifle, thats a hoot to shoot!!!

Pa, what kind of ammo do you shoot in the rifle? I picked up a Win. 94 Legacy in .44 Mag last fall and was wondering about it.
