So, if you don't 'log out' the server counts you as "currently active" for an indefinite period of time?

If you don't log out, you are shown as "currently active" for a predetermined period of time. I don't know off the top of my head what that predetermined period is. This helps folks who work their way through the posts in a leisurely way to keep from having their "unread" posts marked as "read" before they have a chance to read them all.

Not that it really makes any difference but you may want to look into that. I logged on at 7:15 a.m., closed the browser, shut down the computer and left for work.

1 hour and 45 minutes later, it shows me as still logged on.

I noticed that as well, but didn't really think much about it.

I think it will keep you logged on unless you clear your cookies.

I don't really want to make a mountain out of a molehill here, but I'm not talking about my computer staying logged on. It's the "active users" information at the bottom of the page I was referring to....

Spurious, I believe that on our previous forum host, the timeout was set for 15 minutes, as Shooter45 said. When we moved from that host to our current host, we also changed software, and our Admin set our timout at 90 minutes. As I said previously, it gave folks time to work their way through the board in a leisurely way without losing the "read" and "unread" markers. I don't know what the current setting is, but that's the reason why it is set that way.

Just for grins and giggles, :D I'm going to close out the browser on this computer without logging out of the TFF page.

I'm betting that when I get home in 6 hours or so, the page still shows me as logged in.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just odd.
