I have this American Arms Co. Boston revolver that I have some questions about. The frame bears the serial # 2340, and the cylinder face has #265 on it. Even if American Arms didn't number their cylinders to the frame, I still believe this cylinder is the wrong one for this revolver. My question is; does anyone know if American Arms parts are interchangeable with some other manufacturers at the time? I need a complete cylinder assembly for this revolver, and finding an original will probably be a futile search. This revolver also bears three patent dates on the top of the top strap, with the latest being "June 17 '90".
Also, I'm trying to figure out what that little button marked with a red arrow in one of the pictures is used for? The walnut grips are not original to the revolver. I knew I would probably never find original grips for it, so I modified these to fit.
Anyone have knowledge about this revolver? Any help would be appreciated very much.
    Thanks in advance!

The sliding switch in the side plate is supposed to provide option of a single or two stage trigger pull.

Because it's such an oddity it has a bit more collector value than other old top breaks, and Flayderman lists value range from $275 to $575 if in excellent mechanical condition; 50% less if not.

Even if the cylinder is correct it looks like the extractor is missing, and your only source of parts will probably be another of same model.
