PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Two people were killed and another is fighting for her life after a crash near 67th Avenue and Van Buren. Police say it all started with when a couple tried to dine and dash at a restaurant.
The roadway at 67th Avenue and Van Buren has been shutdown since late Thursday night and will likely be closed through morning rush.
It all started around 9 p.m. near 75th Avenue and McDowell. When a man and woman didn't pay their tab at a restaurant.
Police say they got into a fight with the restaurant's staff in parking lot, but ended up speeding off in a black Camaro.
A few minutes later, police received a 911 call about a domestic violence situation happening inside a speeding car that matched the description of the Camaro.
A police helicopter spotted the vehicle and officers tried to stop the driver, but she kept going.
She eventually lost control and crashed into another car.
The driver of the other car, only described as a 31-year-old man, was killed. We're told he was heading home from work.
The female suspect, who was driving the Camaro, is in critical condition. The male suspect, her passenger, has been declared dead.
The intersection is expected to be reopened at 8 a.m. at the earliest. You're advised to take another route.
