This incident happened over a year ago. It was posted here back then, IIRC. Here is a link to the original story from back then:

He actually plead guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and was fined $1000. He did not seek re election due, in part, to this incident.

There is no doubt in my mind that politicians, in general, are elitist snobs and believe absolutely that their lives are more important than those of the general population. The scary thing is that they keep getting elected. What does that say about the general population?

His highly publicized affairs and unpleasant disagreements with boys may have had more to do with his retirement than the shooting incident. That post above barely touches the record of R C Soles. He has been in office since 69, he should have been voted out in 1970 but he was a good ol boy in the right party so little things like morality didn't matter. The longer he was in office the more senior he got the more his immoral behavior didn't matter. It's not like the people of his district minded as long as he delivered the goodies. Go to church on Sunday and vote for the devil on Tuesday.

100%++++ to Gun Geezer. What does this say about us as voters? I think it says that way too many of us sit on our tails election time because "Oh Well, it's ONLY 1 vote and I don't have the time". I think it also says that we generally keep our mouths shut, except when we speak to others like us.

Let me say this: I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO MAIL IN MY VOTE. I VOTE IN PERSON AT EVERY ELECTION. The politicians don't want you to vote, and a good way in making the voter's numbers decline is to make you think it doesn't matter.

This isn't the first time some major Gun Control kook has been caught in this sort of hypocritical postion. Does anyone remember when Rosie O'Donnell (Gun Control Advocate) ambushed Tom Selleck on Gun Control, yet it was disclosed that HER and her CHILDREN had ARMED body guards? And several other Gun Control advocates have used firearms in self defense, as well. Yup, Liberals are hypoctites.

Here's another one. You can't get more anti-gun, or anti-Second Amendment than Diane Feinstein, but when she took over as mayor of San Francisco, she carried. Now that is one hypocritical woman. She can protect herself, while we can't. Why don't these Utopian Socialist Elites all move to France? I'm sure they'd be welcome with open arms. TJ
