am I the only one who hates those stupid little springs that come with ARs? anyway, long story short, when I built my AR, i made one design flaw, I ordered the backplate with sling attachments on both sides, and the classic upper with the forward assist. Well, the sling mount on the one side interfered with the forward assist. Ive just been dealing with it until today, because well, I never use my forward assist, but I had some extra time today so I stripped it down, whipped out the old dremel, cut off the sling attachment, sanded it smooth and painted the part so you cant tell. well, went to put it back together, was screwing the buffer plate back in, was trying to get that stupid little indent screw in place, and all the sudden pop. its gone. nowhere to be found, looked everywhere, cannot find it. ordered a new one...will take 2 weeks to get in because I refuse to spend 20 bucks for fast shipping.....
Long story short, I cut down a paperclip and put it in there in place of the spring, at least until the spring comes in. But seriously....couldnt they come up with a better way of keeping that spring in there? ive seen online where people use a tap and die set to install threads and a screw there to keep the spring in place....not sure if im gutsy enough to try that. and in sure the spring will probably show up...3 days after the new one gets here. Ok, rant over lol.
