AR barrels

    What's with the necked down portion in the middle of the barrel?

    You're referring to the stepped portion in front of the front sight post?

    It's there to accommodate the mounting of an M203 grenade launcher.

    We couldn't make a grenade launcher without doing that?

    Seems like a point of failure.:eek:

    I believe on the full 20 inch versions, that step is under the handguard, so it is never seen.

    I would be more concerned with the trigger, it does not reset all the time and the firing pin remains out. The rounds go off when loading them.
